SEGAWorld Sydney Sonic Plush
These SEGAWorld Sydney plush originate from the old SEGA Amusement Arcade in Sydney which opened in 1997, sadly, it's no longer there. They could be purchased in the gift shop and the online store. The characters include Sonic, Tails, Sally Acorn and Dr. Robotnik and each plush came in 3 different sizes- small, medium and large. They also made plush backpacks and puppets. They had really unique designs, as you can see here!
Japanese SEGASONIC UFO Catcher Plush
Here we have a selection of interesting Sonic plush, originating from Japan. They are easily distinguished by their "SEGASONIC The Hedgehog" title, and most could be won out of UFO catcher machines between 1991-998. Characters include Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Dr. Eggman. They had lots of unique themed sets, including Christmas, Sports, Summer, Etc. I hope to expand on this collection soon. There are so many I'm missing!
Sonic The Fighters Plush (Japanese)
Pictured below, are the complete Sonic the Fighters plush set! These plush originate from Japan, and could be won out of UFO catcher machines during 1997. Included in the set were Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Fang, Bean, Bark, Espio, Dr. Eggman, Super Sonic and Metal. They are rare, hard to find plush and sell for quite a sum when they pop up for sale on auction sites. Expect to pay in the region of $800-$1,000 for Super Sonic!
Sonic The Fighters Plush (Bootleg)
These are bootleg versions of the Sonic The Fighters plush. Their exact origins are unknown. Included in the set are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Fang, Bean, Espio, Bark, Metal Sonic and Dr. Eggman (who of which I am missing). Sadly, Super Sonic didn't make it into this set. They have a very distinctive derpy design. I think they have a nice charm to them, I personally love derpy plush!
Sonic Adventure Plush
With the announcement of Sonic Adventure, SEGA released a plush set in 199 to tie in with the new game. There were two parts of the set, series one and series two. Series one are more common, because not only could they be won out of UFO catchers machines in Japan/bought in SEGA stores, they could be purchased in the United States on an online SEGA store at the time (albeit with their hang tag removed). Included in series one was Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Big and Neutral Chao. Series 2, however, are extremely rare, high value plush. I believe not so many of these were made, or they had a limited run. Included in the set was a re-released Sonic, Amy Rose, NiGHTS Chao, E-102 Gamma and Dr. Eggman. I'm just missing Gamma now to complete the set (I once had him and sold him *sobs*), if you have a spare for sale PLEASE let me know!
Sonic Adventure 2 Plush
In 2001, SEGA released a Sonic Adventure 2 plush set to tie in with the new game. Included in the set were Sonic, Tails, Hero Chao, Shadow and Rouge. These were Japanese exclusive plush and could be won out of UFO catcher machines/purchased in SEGA stores. Sadly, the whole set are extremely rare and hard to find. And when they do pop up for sale on auction sites, expect to pay a pretty penny! These are my personal favourite Sonic plush set, due to their outstanding quality and character likeliness. Soap shoes Sonic, remains one of my most popular Sonic items of all time. He will never be for sale though, I'm sorry! I should also point out there were three different versions of Soap Shoes Sonic made, a Korean pre-order plush which had upside down eyes and a different hang tag, the Sonic Adventure 2 version, and lastly, a "Not For Sale" version with a variant hang tag, which is the version I own. Aside from the variant hang tag, there are absolute no other differences between the two plush at all!
Japanese Sonic X Plush
To tie in with the hit Anime Sonic X, a new plush set was released in Japan and could be won out of UFO catcher machines. There were two series of these plush made- series one and series two. The first set included Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Cream, Cheese and Chris. Bizarrely, Amy Rose was left out. Series 2 was released in 2004, which included a grinning Sonic (the last one I need in the set), Shadow, Rouge, Bokkun and Dr. Eggman. Despite their small size, they're a quality plush set which are becoming increasingly harder to find and the prices are starting to shoot up on these!
Great Eastern Entertainment Sonic Plush
In 2009 Great Eastern Entertainment released their first set of Sonic the Hedgehog plush to the American market. They were small plush, and made of a felt-type material. Due to the popularity of the plush, more and more characters were released on a regular basis, including Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Cream, Chao, Blaze, The Chaotix, Werehog, Shadow, Rouge, Chaos, Dr. Eggman, The Babylon Rogues, Metal Sonic, Super Sonic, Super Shadow, to name some! In 2016, GE lost their Sonic license and due to this, the prices have started to increase. I would recommend picking up these plush as soon as you can, before they become as scarce as previous in demand sets.
Sanei Sonic Plush
In 2007, Sanei released their first series of Sonic the Hedgehog plush to the Japanese market. Included were Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose. I think two more sets have been made since their 2007 release, with a slightly different look. A recent addition was Shadow. They could be purchased at Joypolis, a SEGA Amusement Arcade in Japan. The Sanei Sonic plushies come in small sizes, and are made of minky material with embroidered eyes.
Jazwares Sonic Plush
With the huge success of Jazwares Sonic the Hedgehog figure range, miniature plushies soon followed. Characters included Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Werehog, Shadow, Silver and Metal Sonic. They were made of minky material. Slightly larger plush were also produced. The facial expressions I always felt weren't the best on these plush, and in my personal opinion they didn't live up to the same superior quality as the Jazwares Sonic figure line, however, their micro size made them nice to collect, without taking up too much shelf space!
Tomy Modern Sonic Plush
In 2016, Tomy made a comeback to the Sonic toy market and made a series of plush to tie in with Sonic's 25th Anniversary! This consisted of boxed larger sized Sonic and Tails plushies, which soon followed by smaller plush. Characters released so far include Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Super Sonic, Chao, Vector, Shadow, Metal Sonic and Dr. Eggman. Their compact size makes them great plush to collect, without taking up too much shelf space! And despite their small size, the quality of these plush are superb.
Tomy Sonic Boom Plush
To tie in with the hit TV show and video game, Tomy released a series of Sonic Boom plushies in 2014 which included all the main Sonic Boom characters- Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Sticks, Orbot, Cubot, Metal Sonic and Dr. Eggman. I've never been the biggest fan of this TV show, and so at the time, I never got round to picking up the Sonic Boom plush sets. However, some did still make their way into my collection. I especially love the Emoji plush, a great unique addition to the collection, and great travel buddies for some fun photos!
Hello Kitty X Sanrio Sonic Plush
In 2016, Sanrio released a unique set of Hello Kitty Sonic crossover plush to the American market, which included characters from the popular Hello Kitty franchise dressed up as Sonic characters! A super cute and fun addition to any Hello Kitty/Sonic collection.
Other Sonic Plush
This section is for Sonic plush, which do have a maker (minus a few bootlegs), but not enough to warrant their own section.
